History

The use the term “simple beginnings” would be very accurate when describing “the Mercantile at the Crossroads”. Originally selling a few simple products, in a small corner of the lobby of what is “At the Crossroads Family Restaurant” a much bigger vision was born back in 1999.

Back in 1999, because of a need for additional space by the primary occupant and owner of the building, “Christian Horizons”, an expansion plan began to take shape.

Local Retailer/Restauranteur, Don Brox, who was supposed to be in semi retirement at the time, but was playing a key role in the development of “At the Crossroads Family Restaurant”, another tenant in the building with “Christian Horizons”, saw an opportunity.

Along with his daughter Karen and daughter in law Kathy, Don grew the expansion plans of “Christian Horizons” to include the space now occupied by “The Mercantile at the Crossroads”. Together, with their extensive experience in retailing, Karen and Kathy took the space visioned by Don Brox, built by Christian Horizons, and created their own independently owned and operated business.

Annually Karen and Kathy spend countless hours diligently seeking out unique and special products for your home and personal needs. Come see what we think is one of the finest, most unique, locally owned operations.
